It wasn’t so long ago that we displayed perforated circular bits of paper in the bottom corner of our windscreens in order to prove that you had paid your road tax... and good luck trying not to rip it while removing it from the square piece of paper it was sent to you in! Fast forward to 2018 and you can now use Google Assistant to check when your road tax and MOT are due.

Amazon’s Alexa has been able to do this since March by enabling the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry skill but this latest update means that you will now be able check when your tax is due on your phone, watch, smart speaker and anywhere else that the Google Assistant is available.

Give it a go, just ask Google to talk to the DVLA.
